Al Dahra Agriculture ( www.aldahra.com) is a leading company owned by HE Sheikh Hamdan Ben Zayed AlNhayan. It is specialized in agriculture and animal feed production. It is a partner with the UAE government in implementing the strategic food security program. It has global operations, farms and production facilities in the UAE, USA, Sudan, Spain, Pakistan, Namibia and Egypt.

Capacity building of the National Referent Laboratory in Serbia

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark, Ms. Mette  Kjuel Nilsen and representatives of EU Twinning project “Capacity building of the National Referent Laboratory” met with Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Mr Goran Knezevic and his team on Wednesday, March 20, 2013.   

Embassy visit to Arilje

The Ambassador and the Economic and Agriculture Departments of the Embassy of the Netherlands had a working visit to the municipality of Arilje. During the visit the Embassy was informed about developments in the municipality and possibilities for cooperation in fields of soft fruit and textiles production. Base was set for future visits of farmers and growers from Arilje to the Netherlands.

The Dutch interested in food processing in Vojvodina

The Netherlands, partner country of Novi Sad Agriculture Fair in 2014, is going to work closely with provincial government of Vojvodina on establishing links between companies interested to invest in Vojvodina and those interested to supply equipment to improve capacity in processing of fruit and vegetables.

Agricultural census

From October 1st to December 15th 2012 an agricultural census will take place. It is the first agro census after 1960. It will cover around 800.000 farm-households. Besides farms, census will mark agricultural entrepreneurs, agricultural enterprises, agricultural cooperatives, agricultural companies and all relevant stakeholders. The questionnaire is aligned with EU requirements and EU will finance implementation of the census.

Drought set to heavily reduce Serbia’s crop yields in 2012

This year’s drought will heavily reduce yield in major crops in Serbia for 2012, the Statistics Office estimates show. Corn yield is expected to tumble 45.9% against 2011, while output of sunflower is expected to decline by 23.1%, sugar beet, 22.9%, soybean, 42.3%, potatoes, 32.5%, and beans, 41.4%, according to the Statistics Office. At the same time, Serbia’s apple output is expected to shrink 40.3% year-on-year, plums, 37%, and grapes, 11.7%, against last year.

National park in Serbia popular with Dutch tourists

The national park Zasavica covers an area of ​​1850 hectares in Sremska Mitrovica in the northwest of Serbia. This park is managed by the local NGO “Pokret Gorana” which was supported on different occasions by the Dutch MATRA KNIP fund. Recently, the NGO managing this reserve asked Dutch Senior Expert Assistance Program – PUM for assistance to put the park on the map so the number of tourists would increase.

Launching of the web portal

Third annual meeting of the High Level Working Group on agricultural cooperation between Serbia and the Netherlands took place on 27-28 August in Belgrade.

Since the start of the formalized agricultural cooperation between the two countries in 2010, the Netherlands and Serbia are of the view that the cooperation is reaching a kind of mature status with a well balanced portfolio of activities, ranging from discussing policy affairs and implementing joint projects to taking initiatives that stimulate and facilitate bilateral trade.
